Fried Fish by Ulu Boi Napeahi

Surfer Ulu Boi Napeahi is one of those great human beings that you want to meet. A local boy from the Big Island who started surfing at the age of 4. He never thought he would become a professional surfer but as he grew up his passion became clear with what he was going to do.
He grew up in the ocean and loved to surf but never thought the ocean would change his life in dramatic fashion. If his name sounds familiar Ulu boi was bitten by a shark when he was 16 years old at Pohiki Bay. Witnesses say the shark was about 8 feet and got him by the back of his two legs. Amidst this traumatic experience, his energy and spirit remains positive as he looks at life as a gift.

Ingredients
  

  • 1 Whole fish
  • 3 cups flour
  • Oil for frying
  • to taste Hawaiian salt and pepper

Instructions
 

  • Cover fish with flour, salt and pepper
  • Add oil to frying pan or wok
  • When oil is hot drop fish in to pan
  • Cook until done

How To Serve:

  • Feeds 3-4 people usually served with poi.
