Most of these never make it to the table. Yummy mochi treat that’s fried! The sweet potatoes add such a great flavor and texture to this dessert good to snack on all day long.

  • 4 c. Okinawan sweet potatoes (purple), boiled, peeled, mashed
  • 1 1/2 c. mochiko flour (sweet glutinous rice flour)
  • 1 c. all-purpose flour
  • 1 1/4 c. water
  • 1/4 c. butter, melted
  • 2 1/4 c. brown sugar
  • oil for frying


  • In a mixing bowl, combine flours, water and butter.
  • Stir in potatoes and sugar.
  • Mix well.
  • Shape into patties.
  • In a skillet over medium heat; sauté in oil until lightly browned on both sides.
  • Drain on paper towels.

How To Serve:

  • Serves 8-10.
