Chicken Long Rice by Heimana Reynolds
We welcome Olympian Heimana Reynolds. Heimana is a local boy that has made a name for himself as a top notch skateboarder. In 2009 Heimana told a KGMB reporter that his goal was to become a professional skateboarder and compete in the Olympics. Eleven years later, Heimana has risen to the top in park skateboarding and accomplished that goal in Tokyo when skateboarding made its Olympic debut. At a very young age he developed a love for surfing and skateboarding. Every day after school he would be at the skatepark till sunset and then jump in the water to surf before dark. His family has a skate school and skate shop called Proper Rideshop in Honolulu and runs the only indoor skatepark on the island, you can often find Heimana there teaching other youngsters about the sport he loves. Heimana has lived in Hawaii his entire life and is deeply connected to his Hawaiian and Tahitian roots and culture. Today he shares Chicken Long Rice recipe.
Ingredients
- 32 oz Bone broth / chicken broth
- 32 oz Water
- 8 oz Long rice noodles thicker long rice noodle comes out better
- 1 lb chicken thighs Skinless & boneless
- 3 cloves Garlic minced
- 2 Tbsp Ginger peeled and grated
- 3 Tbsp shoyu
- ½ cup Green onions sliced
- To taste Salt
- Sprinkle parsley flakes Minced
Instructions
- Brown chicken in a pan over high heat.
- Add water and chicken broth to a pot on medium heat.
- Shred ginger and mince garlic.
- Then add the ginger and garlic and salt to the pot of broth.
- Then put chicken in, bring to a boil and then simmer, for a few hours until cooked.
- Soak noodles in water for 30 minutes.
- Add a teaspoon shoyu, mix well and taste.
- Drain the water from noodles and then add the noodles into the soup with parsley flakes.
- Noodles only need to cook for 3 minutes.
- Once the three minutes is up then turn it off.
- Chop green onion and add to finished dish.
