Over style Kūlolo by Kuana Torres
This is our second time having Kuana Torres with us on Cooking Hawaiian Style. His mana’o on Hawaiian culture and cuisine makes for an extra special episode. In addition to singing, Kuana spends much of his time on-line these days conducting hula work shops and lei making classes, this pandemic has not slowed him down a bit as he continues to be quite busy.Enjoy a traditional Hawaiian dessert with this Kūlolo recipe made from taro, honey, coconut milk, and sugar. A sweet, sticky treat wrapped in banana leaves for a rich, flavorful experience.
Ingredients
- 4 cups grated kalo
- 3/4 cup Honey
- 1/2 cup Brown Sugar
- 1 cup Coconut Milk
Instructions
- Combine all ingredients.
- Mix thoroughly by hand.
- Fold into baking pan.
- Cover with foil.
- Bake at 190 to 200° for 10 hours.
- Remove from oven and allow to cool.
- Cut as desired.
- Enjoy!
