Homestyle Oyakudon
Sometimes I want a quick fix and this recipe gives me the comforts of oyakudon with very little effort!
Ingredients
- 3 tablespoons oil
- 1/2 cup raw pork, shredded
- flour
- 2 teaspoons butter
- 1 small onion sliced thinly
- 1 tablespoon sugar
- 2 tablespoons Aloha Aloha shoyu
- 5 grams (one packet) kombu dashi powder
- 1/2 cup water
- 2 eggs
- nori strips
Instructions
- Cut pieces of pork into thin strips. lightly dredge in flour and fry in hot oil in a frying pan until golden crispy.
- Remove pork from pan, add 2 tablespoons butter and saute the onions over medium low heat until they caramelize.
- Add in the sugar, soy sauce, dashi powder and water. Turn the heat up to medium and wait for it to bubble vigorously.
- Meanwhile, crack the eggs together in a small bowl and beat with a fork.
- When the mixture begins to bubble, add the pork back to the pan and pour beaten eggs into the pan. Let the eggs cook, without stirring, until fully set. Shut off the heat.
- Sprinkle with strips of seasoned nori or furikake.
- Serve on hot rice!
